MOM takes pictures!
Hey there! Glad to see you found us. You might be wondering about all these pictures, so let me take a few minutes to help you get oriented.
First off, this wealth of pictures is purely the brainchild of your humble Webmistress. I take a lot of pictures, and some of them find their way here. It's something I started doing the first time we got ourselves into the bar biz, and it's something folks just expect of me now. Sometimes they even send me pictures they've taken and ask me to put 'em up. Like any family photo album, it's a way of recording and remembering our history and reliving some of the fun and often goofy moments we share at MOM's. And I post them here primarily for the amusement of the people you'll see in them.
But we also post them here to give new folks a chance to get to know us a little better. So if you've never been to Memphis On Main, these pictures will indeed give you a pretty accurate feel for who we are and how we do things.
As you look at the photo index, you'll notice I have the pics organized by "Chapters." The Chapters are pretty much in chronological order from bottom to top. And for each chapter, the pages are pretty much in chronological order from top to bottom. I say "pretty much" because it's not a precise science here, so sometimes things might get a little mixed around.
Some of the pictures are spontaneous, some are posed, some are flat-out staged, and some may be digitally altered. Likewise with the captions. Captions are my "trademark," if you will. I have great fun coming up with them, and I take great liberties in doing so.
So you can't always trust that what you're seeing and reading is precisely what was going on at the moment. And it's not always easy to tell. For example, when you get to the picture showing a motorcycle parked inside because we didn't want the owner driving home that night, that is, in fact, what was going on. On the other hand, when you see the the one where the woman looks like she's ready to throttle me and the caption suggests she's angry with me for taking her picture, the scenario is utter fabrication.
But the feel of it is genuine through-and-through. So kick back and browse freely through our little family photo album. If you like what you see, come on down and introduce yourself. You might even find yourself in the next set o' pics. ;)
